On Tuesday my mum took Mackenzie, Ellazae, Rhys and I to the movies to watch Rio 2 in 3D. Then when I was in line I saw Mr Chittenden. He also was watching the same movie as us. We had a good time at the movies and you all have to watch  Rio 2. It is amazing. here's a picture of the movie. Blue the boy bird has three children 2 girls and 1 boy. In the end Gules I think her name is the lady bird finds her father that she lost when she was a little girl. She also gets her best friends and her family back. On Thursday me, my sister, my other sister, my baby cousin, and my other cousin Ellazae went to the beach in New Plyumoth. I made a sand castle. That was a fun day at the beach.

Winter is well on its way this week judging by the weather so Room 3 decided to write a poem about what best reminds us of winter. Our Koru trees are finally done after a couple of weeks of hard work. We spent a lot of time concentrating on blending, dabbing and mixing compatible colours. It was worth the effort and the finished pictures look spectacular. Take a look for yourself.

My body was frozen as if 1 million ice cubes were covering me like a big black blanket. My nerves grew threw me. I could feel big goose bumps crawling up my body. There was a tight knot in my stomach getting tighter, and tighter. Standing on the board ready to spring. My face was as red as a tomato as if it was going to explode.

My boy felt tense. I slowly took a glance at my enemies." On your marks... get set...Bzzzzzz". We all leaped off like 6 crazy maniacs. 

I was o my back plopping my arms up and down, up and down. I was so exhausted My arms could do no more. Telling my self " I can not slow down my school is counting on me" I thought. Closing my eyes and before I could open them I was finished. Crossing my fingers hoping I had come first.

The lady slowly walked over. In her hand she held a shiny, glossy, orange stick. I wondered in my mind trying to remember what that placing was.

Room 3 had a busy day today learning about measurements, following instructions and procedural writing. It was all down to our old friends the amazin raisins. We found that we had actually brewed up a culture of wild yeast and now had a starter for making bread. There was only one problem though. Someone had got onto mr Spice's computer and mixed up our recipe. The students had to get into groups use iPads and google to work our what the original measurements were. Here is a copy of the mixed up recipe. Can you work it out? All of our groups did in the end. We used grams, millilitres, cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, kilograms, and litres.Here are some photos of our mathematical, measurement day of problem solving. Also great work to both of the groups that got there sultana bread turned out well.

Jerome had his last day because he was heading off to Masterton. Room 3 threw him a great big goodbye party. We each brought a plate, hid in the class and surprised him a great big cheer. We will all miss Jerome!

Recently room 3 have been doing art based on the Maori symbol of the Koru. Here is a bit of information that helps explain the concepts behind it.The Koru is a Maori symbol that represents moving back to the beginning. It refers to the circular flow towards an inner coil and unfolding of a silver fern. It is thought that the unfolding of a fern is symbolic of new life, rebirth, hope, personal growth, purity and perfection. We found that this symbolism compliments our Art work themes of the tree of life and our colour schemes 'sunset and sunrise'.

Could you move it" he whispers. "These people are making me sick" I said. Then I decided to walk away. I had a handful of money ready to spend...

This is Auroa schools swing set. We raised over $1000 dollars to bring this amazing swing set to our school. The 2nd photo is me and the Taranaki mountain. The 3rd photo is a photo of me and our senior school play ground. We all have great fun playing on it. The 4th photo is me and our school mascot Piri the Pukeko. The last but to least photo is of our school dell. Me and my friend Katelyn walk around the dell almost every day. We really enjoy our amazing school and hopefully we get some more new things brung to our school. For those that guessed it (not many) the amazing raisins was in fact a culture of wild yeast that we grew. All of the groups managed to unscramble the mixed up bread recipe and make some chocolate buns. Those that worked out the correct amounts, baked great looking and delicious buns and those that got some measurements wrong ended up with not so great buns! It was an awesome end to an amazing mystery in Room 3. Here are some pictures.

This week over half of room 3 took part in the weetbix tri in New Plymouth. It sounds like it was a great day with lots of fun, sun, exercise and carbo-loading! Well done to all of those students who gave it a go and took part. Here is a video and some pictures.

THE LIBRARY 

If you need piece and quite or need a book to read. The place to go is Auroa school library. The library is a really nice place to enjoy some books. There are over 300 books in the library. Mdaline's kind mother ( Viki ) and the PTA brought some lovely new chairs for the children to sit on well they enjoy a book. Over 60 children go in the library nearly every day. The classes really enjoy going in the library and reading books. I even enjoy reading my self.
