Pick a path plans.
On Monday our teacher (Mr Spice) gave a few people a task for writing. He said we have to write a Narrative for a pick a path. Some people are doing this because they are stage where they are good enough writers to design and write their own adventures. Much like the one Mr Spice made at the start of the year. This is going to be a big job and take a lot of thought, so stay tuned for some updates. Here is one of the basic plans:

Advertising madness
Advertising madness
Room 3 has been looking at advertising and persuading for our topic. We worked out that we need to create a problem, provide the solution and make the solution quick and easy. This insight will help us sell our products and we are now using it make our own commercials for an invented energy drink. Here is a few photos of students writing their scripts.
Good or bad?
Good or bad?
Is bubble gum good or bad?. Lets find out. Well here's a video of how to make bubble gum. Comment below and tell me if you spotted what bubble gum is made of. The first word starts with "R" and the second word starts with "P".
Explanation
Explanation
1. You will have to have a pony bush. Then brush the pony for about 4 to 5 minutes. Just to make sure there fur is soft and there is no dust of dirt left in there fur.

3. Now you will have to get the pony's gear witch is the saddle, bridle, breast plate, cropper and the girth. Pu t all the gear on the pony. first put on the saddle on its back. On the saddle you will see a little rope that has a loop on it. Then grab the girth. Then grab the breast plate. Then attatch the rains to the bridle.
4. Now you will have to grab the cart. On the cart there will be two stickson the end of the cart. Stick the end on the cart stick intothe wholes on each side. Then you will see cups. Stick the tips of the end of the cart into the cups
5. Then get the breast plate stripsand tie it along the cart. Once you have done that get the tie downs and tie around the cart until it is tight/ just a little tight
Reading.
Reading
Last week for reading. Lexi, mad alien and I had to find the difference between
2. Sympathy
3. Compassion
4. Empathy
This is what I found out.
1. Pity is when you feel sorry for someone.
2. Sympathy is when you feel bad for someone- or the situation- like feeling sorry for someone.
3. Compassion is simply having deep feelings or emotions about something ( the dictionary says a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.
4. Empathy is what you feel for someone when you have also experienced the same or similar situation.
Making the most of it.
Making the most of it.
Have you ever had something that you loved and cared about but then you have to give it up? I have. Sticking to the big black couch . A baby goat sleeping endlessly on my lap. A little goat bottle appeared in my hand with warm milk inside. Listing to the sound of the goat crying. Suck, suck, suck. Slipping the tip of the milk bottle into it's little black mouth.
" Time to go out side now" I said with a carm voice. "Baa,baa murmur the goat. It had almost felt like it was saying "I don't want to go out side". Opening the door to the sound of cars flying past, birds hiding between the trees, and cats and dogs roaming the streets. " baa, baa, baa " screamed the goat. It was as loud as 1 million elephants.
Hovering back inside. Silence loomed the area. "Baa, baa, baa". "Ops". I had left the goat out side. As I walked to go get the goat a strange truck appeared on our drive way. I think she was here for our goat. We didn't even had the goat for a day I thought, and now we have to give it away." Bye" little one" I said softly

Eternity waiting for a delicious surprise.
Eternity waiting for a Delicious surprise.
Have you ever had a day when you wont feel content until you have that creamy goodness called Ice cream. Freedom has unlocked. Strolling down the street grasping thousands of little coins. Drip, drip, drip. Sweat drips running down my face as is it was a waterfall. Feeling like I was under a big yellow blanket that felt like 99 degrees. Melting like a snow man disappearing in midair. A few meters before me stood a big green building.
Feet frozen in the door looking at all the delicious flavours I had of choosing. Goodie goodie gum drop was most desirable." Come on". Whispered the grumpy old shop keeper. "What would you like" he asked as his glasses were on the tip of his nose and his face crunched up like a bulldog." Goodie goodie gum drop please" I said with a gratifying and obliging voice as well as trying to put a smile on my face but it was impossible. Waiting, waiting, waiting.
Standing out side one foot after the other. My feet were as hot as if I was standing on lave. Silence loomed the area."Slop". Oh no. I was no longer content. This was my worst day of my life. Wondering what tomorrow will be like.

Taste testing.
Taste testing.
Room 3 has been talking about brands and Mr Spice suggested to them that certain brands can make some people behave differently. He used the example of two different kinds of milk and how some people thought one tasted better than the other. So today Room 3 put that to the test and Mr Spice poured a small bit of Coke in one cup marked 'cup B' and a small bit of Pepsi in a cup marked 'cup A'. The students did not know which one and had to guess the one that the coke was in. Easy right?
Well, we tallied up all the results and 20 out of our 28 students got it wrong! They couldn't tell at all and realised that maybe there is more to a product than what they think. Stay tuned for further investigations.

Rom 3's Topic.
Room 3's Topic.
Today we started our topic for the next two terms. It is going to revolve around technology and economy with making a product to sell as the final goal. We had a look at advertising for students and parents by looking at lollie (candy) packets. We found that they use bright colours (yellow, red, white), were aimed at children (having cartoon pictures) and sometimes parents (real fruit flavour). It was a good lesson in thinking about how to sell something and who to sell it to.

Te Reo
Today Mr Tai came into room 3 and taught Te Reo to us. We learned how to express our feelings and ask how somebody is feeling in Moari. Here is a snap of the action.
